Birthday celebrations are always special as we welcome a whole new year and look forward to new beginings. To celebrate my birthday we headed down to Gangsta’s, which is located on the bustling Linking road in Bandra ( right between Maple store and accessorize). Gangsta’s comes with a new concept and design after a long time. As the name suggests, there are quotes and famous sayings of Hollywood celebrities who played gangsters / mafias in movies and other quotes put up all over the place. The music is great and gets better as the evening passes (post 10 pm) and gets you grooving on your seat. The place is spread out over two floors and every time a door opens you think you are about to enter a private VIP party organized just for you. Read on to find out more about my experience at Gangsta’s on my birthday below:
Achari Aloo: Potatoes are the best, aren’t they? The Achari Aloo at Gangsta’s is probably one of the best items on the menu! The potato balls are well roasted in Tikka like gravy and served with salad on the side. Perfect to go with your drink, go on and order it already.
Gangsta Taster: for all you bread lovers, this one is a must have. SUPER crispy bread filled with Masala and cheese toasted and topped with garlic. One of the good finds at Gangsta’s for vegetarians when you don’t want to go out of your comfort zone trying exotic or new items. You might have to bite into the bread with extra force and be careful as this can get messy.
Labanese Taftoon: Tortilla chip like base topped with olives, onions, tomatoes, cheese and topped with harrisa sauce felt like biting into nacho chips topped with veggies and was a delight to the taste buds. This is recommended if you want to sit back and enjoy your drink with a few chips like appetizers.
Kartofeel Taftoon: my love for potatoes was put to test with this item on the menu. Kartofeel Taftoon contains mashed potatoes with smoked cheese on a tortilla chip base. As soon as I took the first bite I realized that this isn’t for me and all my friends volunteered to cut this as a birthday cake for me and fed me the Taftoon! This isn’t recommended unless you are a hardcore lover of mashed potatoes.
Veg Lasagna: CHEESE OVERLOAD! And it wasn’t necessarily the good kind. The lasagna was very mediocre with too much cheese sauce all over and order this only if you have ran out of all other items on the menu.
Cottage cheese steak: cottage cheese was grilled well, topped with spinach and garlic sautéed served along with rice and saffron sauce. This dish was over within minutes of arriving at our table. The saffron sauce lacked a little bit flavor (maybe it’s just me J ) but the dish is recommended over all for all your cottage cheese (paneer) lovers!
Drinks (Cocktails + Mock tails): the drinks are well priced and not too diluted (cocktails/mock tails, that is). They have interesting flavors and house specials to choose and order from.
The next time you are looking for a new place in Bandra to enjoy with your friends, head over to Gangsta’s to enjoy a night full of food, fun, music and dance!
