For the love of Indian food, we are willing to go anywhere. We headed to the newly opened North Indian grill & Kitchen Amaya to experience their dishes and offerings in conjunction with FBAI & team Amaya.

Hare Mirch Aur Dhania Ki Tikki: HEAVEN! Loaded with green chilies, cheddar cheese was and will always be one of our favorites at Amaya! Chef Paul Kinney has done a fabulous job with this dish. Get ready to be wowed with the deliciousness of this dish with every bite you take. MUST HAVE! We ordered this dish three times, and every time it tastes better than the last.
Hara Bhara Kebab: one of our favorites, for its taste, texture and flavor – the kebab tasted very different that we have ever had. The kebabs were soft, but not necessarily pleasing our palates. If you are running out of options/love kebabs go for this one.
Peshawari Kumbh: button mushrooms stuffed with spiced cheese and cooked in a clay oven are also a must have here. The stuffing is delicious and unlike something we have had yet; very different and flavorsome. We love our mushrooms, and this dish was sumptuous.
Noorani Seekh: minced vegetables seasoned with herbs & spices are cooked on a sigdi, which explains its soft texture; however the taste was very mediocre as we found it to be a little bland.
Tulsiani Paneer Tikka: Paneer that is chargrilled in a clay oven marinated with fresh green basil, chilies and cilantro. The Paneer was soft and the combination of basil, chilies and cilantro was good, too. Can try this dish, won’t be disappointed.
Paneer Lababdar: The Paneer and tomato based gravy was delicious and we couldn’t help but indulge in more than two servings.
Subz Miloni: mixed vegetables in a rich & thick tomato gravy was one of our favorites in the main course. The taste of the gravy was perfect, not too sweet/spicy and went perfectly well with the naan. Recommended. Paneer ke dulme: Spiced cottage cheese which are wrapped in spinach leaves and simmered in rich tomato gravy was delicious! If you love your Paneer in the main course, this is just for you.
Pahadi Lasooni Palak: as many of you might know by now, we love our green leafy vegetables; this one was another highlight of the evening. Fresh spinach pan tossed with baby garlic was one of our favorites and we could go for a serving right about now.
Dal Makhani: The Dal was a good accompaniment with the mains and the assorted breads.
Assorted Breads: We were served with Tandoori Roti, Plain Naan, Butter Naan (Amaya Special). The Roti/Naan was soft and chewy, especially the ones with the flavoring and toppings.
Tarkari Dum Biryani: DELICIOUS! Mixed Vegetable Biryani finished with light ginger and cumin tempering is delicious to a whole new level. We love eating Biryani outside and have had it any many places, but this one was very different, full of flavor and super satisfying with every bite. Must have! If you are going with a few people, we would recommend reducing the appetizers/mains to save space for this heavenly Biryani.
Desserts: Many of us eat only so we can get dessert in the end, and that is just what happened here, but bigger and better than our expectations. For Dessert we had the Baked Gulab Jamun, which was soft, juicy and delicious! Kolkata Meetha Paan Ice Cream was our first encounter with the Kolkata Meetha paan ice cream and we had mixed feelings about this dessert. They have used the meetha paan mixture with vanilla ice cream and churned it together to bring you this dessert specialty. We are one of those people who like our paan as is, so we weren’t very sure of this one. However, many around the table loved this dessert. We would recommend you try this dish out and let us know your thoughts.
Overall, Amaya is a place where we would suggest you head to the next time you are looking for a quiet dinner/date that involves delicious North Indian food. The ambience if quiet and peaceful, food is delicious and service is mediocre. Located on the ground floor of Phoenix Marketcity Mall in Kurla, this place is worth a visit once for sure. We are already drooling over the Hare Mirch aur dhania ki Tikki, Biryani and Gulab Jamun and cannot wait to go back here for these especially.
