Salt Water Cafe, Churchgate

Work lunches are fun – quick but fun. You get to explore new places around your office with your team mates while doing what we love the most – Eating! As part of another team lunch we headed to Salt water café, Churchgate and boy were we disappointed with this meal.photo-21-12-16-13-51-02

Overall:

Food: 2.5/5

Service: 2/5

Ambience: 3/5

Value for Money: 2/5

Mushroom soup: creamy rich well-cooked mushroom soup was a good choice to begin our meal here with. We only hoped that the rest of the afternoon continued like this.

Bagel with cream cheese: we were really looking forward to this one and were disappointed like never before. The bagel was toasted to a level where we almost felt a crack in our teeth while swallowing it.photo-21-12-16-14-19-12

Caramelized onions + goat cheese + Kalamata olives – flat bread: this dish was delicious but we wished there was more of it. 6 mini pieces of flat bread between 4 people, not good enough for more than a bite each.

Spaghetti: we ordered hoping for a rendition of aglio olio and we were served what turned out to be spaghetti in Arabiatta sauce – very Desi pasta like. There’s no point in even talking about this, my heart aches on how can a café like salt water screw up on a dish like spaghetti.photo-21-12-16-14-27-20photo-21-12-16-14-27-40Buckwheat crepe: we decided on this crepe after 3 other items we wanted were available for the afternoon. It wasn’t too bad and for all those who love experimenting with their vegetables.photo-21-12-16-14-33-26

Hot chocolate fondant: after a waiting time of 45 minutes when you get half cooked fondant what do you do – eat it anyways. Seriously, we cannot even describe how bad our experience at this outlet was in particular how uncooked the fondant was. Do not even try this until you have TIME on your hands, even then – we can’t promise anything.

Service is awful, pretty much anything we wanted from the menu was unavailable and when we asked the staff for suggestions – it wasn’t of much help. Extremely slow service, so if you’re headed here on a time crunch – please plan accordingly. overall, if you are looking to head to place where food (quality/quantity) doesn’t matter with good ambience – you could consider this place. Not recommended by us though.
