As part of birthday celebrations the girls and I headed out to Grandmama’s café in Kamala Mills – a place where I’ve heard so much about and was looking forward to trying out the food here. Our birthday lunch experience was special for many reasons and here’s why:
Value for Money: 3/5
Mocktails: we started with some drinks; blackcurrant iced tea, fresh lime and mint mojito and needless to say – these were good. We did play it safe and were glad with our choice of drinks
Appetizers: we started with the bell pepper crostini – a mix of all bell peppers on pesto layered bread. This one is for all those who love their veggies and are open to experimentation, as the bell peppers are cold served so at first it tastes a little different but the taste grows on you.Parmesan Gnocchi: were really excited ordering this dish but disappointed with the first bite itself. The Gnocchi was overcooked and the flavor of the sauce was very bland. Not recommendedGrandmas special pizza: we tried to stick to the house special so we would have a good meal and experience but to our disappointment this one was very average in taste. Topped with sundried tomatoes, olives and bell peppers – this dish didn’t do the trick for us, either. If pizza cannot fix it, we don’t know what possibly can.We didn’t stay back for dessert as we were too full from the food we’d eaten and not necessarily satisfied with what we had consumed so we decided to head to the other umpteen options in the vicinity of Kamala mills. No doubt that the ambience is sweet and relaxing, the staff is friendly and well-trained but the food just didn’t click for us on several reasons and levels.
